How turf cost is estimated
Turf and topsoil are priced per square metre and bought with a 5% wastage allowance on top of your raw lawn area, to cover offcuts and edge trims. Ground preparation and labour — levelling, clearing weeds and old grass, and laying the new turf — is priced on your lawn's actual area, since that work doesn't scale with the extra material ordered. A flat delivery charge covers getting the turf to your door, usually within 24-48 hours of cutting for the best results. For an exact price, measure carefully (or have a supplier measure for you) and get a few quotes — turf grade, ground condition and regional labour rates all affect the final cost.
