How State Pension age and the pot projection are worked out

Your State Pension age depends on your date of birth: it's 66 if you were born before 6 April 1960, phasing up to 67 for people born between 6 April 1960 and 5 April 1977 (67 fully in place from 2028), and 68 for anyone born on or after 6 April 1977 — though this further rise is not yet fully confirmed in law. Always check your exact date on the official gov.uk State Pension age tool. The pension pot projection is a simple model: your current pot plus your monthly contributions are assumed to grow at a constant annual rate, compounded monthly, until State Pension age. The "sustainable income" figure applies the well-known 4%-a-year drawdown rule of thumb to the projected pot — it's a helpful starting point for planning, not a guarantee or financial advice.
