Life in Hours Calculator

See how your remaining years break down hour by hour — sleep, work, screen time and more — and how many hours are still genuinely yours.

Just for fun. This calculator is for fun and general planning only — a general guide to how your time might be spent, not a scientific prediction of how long you'll live. It isn't health, financial or life advice.

How your life in hours is worked out

We start with your remaining years — your life expectancy minus your current age — and convert them into hours (using 365.25 days a year, to average out leap years). Sleep, eating, screen time, exercise and chores are counted across every single day. Work and commuting are only counted on roughly 5 of every 7 days, and only up to your retirement age — once you retire, that time becomes free time too. Whatever's left after all of that is your free time: the hours that are genuinely yours to spend however you like. It's a fun, illustrative way to see where the hours really go — not a scientific prediction, since nobody knows exactly how long they'll live.
