How this fuel split calculator works
We convert your journey distance and fuel economy into gallons used (miles ÷ mpg), then into litres (gallons × 4.54609, the exact size of a UK imperial gallon). Multiplying litres by the price per litre gives the total fuel cost, which we then divide evenly between everyone sharing the car, including the driver. Toggle 'Return trip' to double the distance and cost for a there-and-back journey.
