How we estimate driveway costs
Material rates are supply-and-fit prices per m², already including a standard sub-base — gravel and tarmac are the cheapest options, while resin-bound surfacing typically costs the most. We add extra for excavation only if the site needs new groundwork rather than replacing an existing hardstanding, plus optional edging (priced per linear metre) and a drainage/soakaway allowance where needed. A skip and waste removal allowance is included on every job. Because site access, ground conditions and local labour rates vary significantly, we show a ±15% range around the central estimate — always get quotes from local contractors before budgeting.
