How BNPL cost is calculated
A BNPL purchase is split evenly across the number of instalments you choose, down to the exact penny. If every instalment is paid on time, the total cost is simply the purchase price — no interest, no fees. The only cost scenario is a missed payment: providers charge a late fee, but that fee is capped here at 25% of a single instalment, reflecting the kind of affordability cap major UK providers publish rather than letting an entered fee run unchecked. The stacking section adds up every other active plan's ongoing monthly commitment — its outstanding balance divided by instalments left — alongside this purchase, so you can see the total you're committed to each month, not just the plan in front of you.
