How the switching saving is worked out
Your current smoking cost is worked out the same way as our Smoking Cost Calculator, cigarettes or packs per day, at your price per pack, over a full year. Vaping cost depends on the style: disposables are a flat daily price, while a refillable kit has a one-off kit cost plus an ongoing cost for liquid and coils, typically £320-£840 a year. The annual saving compares the two running costs; a separate year-1 figure also accounts for the one-off kit price if you choose refillable. Typical UK savings switching from smoking to vaping run £2,600-£4,500 a year, though quitting nicotine altogether, with free NHS support, saves the most of all.
