Inflation Calculator
See what an amount of money from one year is worth in another, using UK CPI — plus the cumulative and average annual change.
Estimate only. This is an estimate, not financial advice. The CPI figures used are approximate and for illustration — verify against the official ONS CPI series before relying on this for anything beyond a rough guide.
Enter an amount and two years
We'll show you what it's worth, the cumulative change and the average annual change as you type.
How this inflation calculator works
We convert your amount using the ratio between the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) for your start year and your end year: value = amount × (CPI at end year ÷ CPI at start year). If either year falls outside our CPI data, we instead compound the average annual rate you enter, so you can still get an estimate for years we don't hold data for. The 'average annual change' is the compound annual growth rate between the two years — a single %/year figure that, applied every year, gets you from the start value to the end value.
